THE MAR2

THE MAR2 website
The Idea
The general idea of my website was to promote myself to the community. I went through a few versions and revisions until I finally came up with the one that is now online. I wanted it to be super intuitive, light and easy to use and at the same time to show my work in the best possible way. The ultimate goal was to produce one seamless experience for all users and device types.

The Concept
The final concept I decided to use was to make the website very well organized by using a strict grid system with defined columns and sizes. The content of the website then should rearrange based on the screen size of the visitor. This technique is known as “Responsive Design” and it’s really great since the site is rendered in the best possible way no matter the device – PC, laptop, tablet or a smartphone.

The Process
First of all I started with mocking up some details inside Photoshop and Illustrator. For the means of my new website I’ve completely revamped my logo and identity so it can meet the high standards of the new interactive experience. After that I’ve set on the all the small things: grid sizes, font combos, color usage and so on. When I had all the initial stuff set up I proceeded with building some basic html and css templates. After tons of testing on various devices and browsers I had the skeleton of the website up and running. Next thing was to add the mobile and responsive functionality – I’ve used various javascript libraries to enable mobile navigation such as browsing between the projects with a simple swipe and so on. After that came the really time-consuming part – selecting the work I wanted to show, preparing the thumbnails and photos and writing all the texts for the projects.
Two and a half months later I had the website up and ready to roll. It was a really great experience that I’m proud of and I hope the community will like!
